The Right Way to Stop More Hair Loss

The natural hair growth cycle would involve daily hair loss. 90% of our hair is in a growth phase; 10% in a resting phase which is lost every 2 or 3 months. People start to notice their hair thinning when the usual loss is beyond the expected limits.

These include: Plenty of reasons cause hair loss. Involves rapid loss of hair and affects both men and women. When there is a mal-function of the immune system the intrinsic white cells attack the hair follicles and result in this ailment. When all the scalp hair is lost it is called Alopecia Totalis. Alopecia Universalis is a rare condition when the entire body hair is lost.

Genetic reasons: Called male pattern baldness, this can affect about 25% of men by the time they are 30. Though the reason is genetic another contributing factor is testosterone the male hormone. Testosterone is usually converted to Dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Men not having any testosterone would not suffer from male pattern baldness.

Skin diseases – Skin diseases can affect the scalp and cause hair loss. Dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis, psoriasis, scalp fungus such as ringworm and tinea captis are some of the ailments caused by skin diseases.

Sudden illness or fever: hair can come off in large tufts after an illness or fever. This is a temporary event though and soon passes off.

The other common factors which can also result in hair loss include childbirth, menopause, chemotherapy, radiation therapy and getting old. These are the main reasons for losing hair but there are others.

Not only can you stop hair loss but your can promote re-growth too, when you follow a successful hair loss treatment program. Here are some natural ways you could treat hair loss:

1. Incorporating Vitamins A, B, C and E is essential for good hair growth. Why are these vitamins important for hair loss? Their beneficial actions include: providing sebum, improving blood circulation to the scalp by increasing absorption of oxygen and collagen.

2. Scalp care: Use herbal oils like olive oil, jojoba oil, amla oil for regular massaging of the scalp. Essential oils of thyme, rosemary, lavender, and cedar wood have also been known to be effective in conditions of alopecia areata.

3. Avoid scalp abuse: Stop daily use of harmful chemical shampoos and blow drying. You can severely damage hair and scalp by coloring as well as straightening. You hair is stripped of natural oils and turns brittle if you wash it daily with hot water.

4. Use of herbal care: There are some very effective options here. Use powders of amla, shikakai, henna and ritha as shampoo and conditioner. It is also a powerful anti-oxidant. Shikakai, often called as the Fruit of hair, has a low pH. After this use henna as a natural conditioner.

5. Reduce stress: Take the help of exercises and meditation to reduce stress levels, which is another factor in hair loss. Quit the Cancer Stick: The nicotine blocks the blood passage to the scalp, reducing blood supply to this region. Avoid excessive sun exposure as UV rays can burn and damage the scalp.
